Welcome to the Department of Earth and Climate Sciences

The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences seeks to educate our students for a lifetime of intellectual pursuits and to contribute to the knowledge of Earth and its history and processes. Our programs place an emphasis on student-faculty collaboration on research, independent study, and hands-on laboratory experience. Many of our courses have some component of field work, giving students the opportunity to explore real world geologic problems and apply the skills they have learned in class, frequently in beautiful settings.
